Zenhiser CR78 The Drum Machine WAV: Get Inspired by the Original Rhythms and Patterns of the CR-78

The 612 is also amazing for drums, as it can transform them quite a bit by clipping the input, adjusting the start point, and applying some filtering (and even looping). So we set out to record an acoustic drum set, and transform it into drum machine hits.

Getting an acoustic set to sound like drum machine hits is tough and requires some imagination. For the bass drum, we mic'd the beater side of the kick, which is usually a no-go for actual drum recording because of the amount of snare leakage, but for sampling, this is a non-issue, and the result is a very punchy, linndrum sounding kick. And, by moving the start point on the 612, pitching and filtering we were able to get a huge range of kicks from subby to crunchy, punchy, distorted, and everything in between:

G.A.S is the impulse to buy every sample pack, plug-in, and hardware device because you need it. There is a man in LA with serious G.A.S, so much so that it is rumored he owns over 180 drum machines. 180 drum machines that he has collected and curated throughout the years.

All the main preset patterns from the original drum machine have been captured. Synth Explore have also included variations, percussion and drum fills from the original machine. This sample pack is ideal for anybody creating electronic music or wanting to add a vintage charm to their beats.

While it may not be as well known as the 909, the 505 drum machine has raw, digital sounds that come to life when run through analog circuitry. Synth Explorer was able to effectively transform this unassuming rhythm machine into a hard-hitting, urban beat machine, perfect for 80s-infused modern productions.

That is exactly what Wave Alchemy is all about and they have taken their creative exploits to create their Tuned Tape Drums. This sample pack contains a whopping 8,000 characterful drum samples from a wide range of the most iconic drum machines from the 1980s. The sounds were recorded using vintage hardware chains for added warmth and the sounds span across two full octaves for versatility using the tape machine Varispeed function.

This sample pack delivers everything from the classic Roland 808 and 909 drum machines to the quirky drum synths such as the Syncussion and SDSV. The collection of samples was sourced from a huge list of drum machines that were specifically restored for this project.

The pack also contains a unique collection of layered sounds for a more modern approach to the sonic layers of the 80s. The layers include sounds from modern drum machines, acoustic drums and percussion, and foley.

A wonderful sample pack reeks of the 80s. Hands down, as a musician myself I have to say that the Linndrum is a personal favourite and one of the great drum machines ever made. Sounds from the linndrum drum machine are wonderful kitsch and has a very plastic tonality. The Linndrum is widely used by independent artists just because it the sounds are easy manipulate and has this trademarked strength to them. This sample pack has been sampled from an original drum machine.

However, The LM-1 was the first drum machine to use samples of a real drum kit, Roger Linn confirms that it was indeed Art Wood session drummer that played the majority of the sounds that he used. Borrowed from thevinylfactory.com:

The pack features 55 drum machines recorded through real tape machines and hardware tape emulations in the Goldbaby studio. A lot of the samples have been remastered and tuned and a few more drum machines added.
